INNOVATION: Live, laugh, act!

When many see problems, there are people that see opportunity.

A very interesting alternative to our current economic situation is to take to reality a project or idea and create your own success! Many people have found in innovation and entrepreneurship the best way to materialize their dreams working with passion and determination, discovering how exciting and rewarding becomes the journey!

We gladly invite you to our first conference from the August – December semester, given by Flavio Marin Flores, who was R&D Project Leader of the New Products Department of Procter & Gamble.

The event will take place on Monday, September 6, at 7:30 pm, in “Sala 4″ of “Aulas 6″, ITESM, Monterrey campus.

Don’t miss it; hope to see you there!

Good artists copy, great artists …steal?

Hi MNN community!

I would like to share with you this video from Jeff Veen about his analysis of a great quote from Picasso “good artists copy, great artists STEAL”. What he tell us in this sketch is the difference when designers just “copy” a particular item believing that they will actually end up having as much success as the original one; but what they should really do is to UNDERSTAND what is the product and what is it made for.

He talks about a very interesting situation of South Pacific native communities were North Americans came when the WW II to fight against the Japanese army, and where they landed brought with them supplies and foods. Once the war was over, the Americans left and these natives wondered where all the food and goods went. So what they did was to “copy” the planes, weapons and situations they saw thinking that these actions will eventually bring them back all the goods, but in fact it didn’t. Veen talks about this is as a perfect example of how just copying a product without knowing what is for won’t lead you to great results.

Take a look at this video, it is very interesting!

Welcoming 2010

Happy new year to all our blog readers!

We are proud to announce that we kicked off in the best of our shapes.

On Sunday 3rd of January we were all set for the first day of our Business Bootcamp with Julian E. Lange, Professor of Entrepreneurship and Public Policy at Babson College.

I’m sure we all agree: The first week of the year was an intensive, but a very good one. Julian was full of positive energy and so were we: preparing and discussing business cases and giving each other useful feedback on our projects – every day, nine days in a row!

After such a great start we can only wish to continue in the same way.

We would also like to welcome our 12 new MNN students – “The January 2010 Generation”:

Samuel Felix, Ana Lucia Villa, Ana Laura Fernandez, Brian Goldman, Katy Flores, Guillermo Najera, Jorge Trejo, Karla Venegas, Natalia Agraz, Raul Fernandez, Roberto Hernández y Rocio Guimond.

And now, for dessert, you can get to see pictures from the handing-over of the Babson Bootcamp diplomas:

Vanessa Huerta, Julian E. Lange and Gabriel Bonduel at the closing lunch in the Tecnológico de Monterrey.
